Ashley and Her Webkinz Cat
Wow! I am more than impressed with how much my daughter is learning about managing money and generally about being responsible with cash in Webkinz World.
Today, we had a family outing to a tourist attraction, Minter Gardens, we had a TON of fun strolling through the gardens and having a great family time!
Now, came the education and tie into Webkinz World.
As with every tourist attraction, everywhere.. Upon exiting the attration, the only exit is through the gift shop. Yeah, great marketing folks!
Now, as we made our way out of the gardens, Ashley (my six year old) was sucked in by the gift shop and instantly wanted to spend thousands of dollars on stuff (I am not exagerating, she literally found thousands of dollars in gift shop stuff she wanted). And there it was! Yet another opportunity to talk money and responsibility with my six year old.
Yeah, she mentioned all the stuff she wanted to buy for Lilly (her Webkinz cat) and there is was, another heart to heart chat about finances between Daddy and daughter.
Nope, nothing was purchased
Yup, my daughter whined about it
She said, "Daddy, my Webinz really needs everything in this gift shop because she is feeling sick!"
Now Daddy gets a great teaching opportunity!
Daddy says, "Sweety, why is your Webkinz feeling sick?"
"Because she's hungry", my daughter said.
"Hmmm, did you save enough for groceries for your Webkinz?", I said
Guess what! My daughter bought far too many gadgets for her cat in Webinkz World.
Now I was presented with yet another chance to have an open discussion about managing money with my 6 year old daughter!

No, nothing was purchased at the Minter Gardens gift shop to make my daughter's Webkinz cat feel better.
What happened was a Daddy/Daughter chat about using our money responsibly to take care of those we love and how to set priorities in spending money.
After our lovely afternoon strolling the gardens, Ashley and I (Dad), had an amazing time playing in Webkinz World where she learned much more about money and I (Daddy) was reminded too about spending money responsibly!

Favorite Webkinz Game
My daughter and I have been trying to get high score on Dex Dangerous and just today we had a personal best and got to level 11. We are really trying our best to get the high score.
Dex Dangerous is a game within Webkinz World, for those my age, it is very similar to one of the early arcade games called Asteroids.

Webkinz Chihuahua Found
I just bought my daughter yet another Webkinz and in fact I am thinking of buying many more Webkinz because of the absolute scarcity of these plush toys right now.
Ganz manufacturering facilities simply cannot keep up with the overwhelming demand of these toys.
I just bought one Webkinz Chihuahua for my daughter from ebay and see that there are 6 more of these adorable Webkinz pups for sale. I'm thinking that since they are so popular especially with the tag that I will buy many more and then auction them off myself in a few weeks for a higher price

Sets of retired webkinz are commanding thousands of dollars, but you can get a Love Pup for much less.

Lilly the Webkinz Aiming at High Score
Wow! Dex Dangerous is sure a fun game! My daughter and I have been playing for the last hour in an attempt to take over high score.
Ashley, my daughter, has gone outside to play for a while so I think I am going to see if I can get Lilly, her grey and white Webkinz cat to be the Dex Dangerous champion
Currently this duck (I think it's a duck anyway), Moon, has the top spot
Webkinz Love Puppy
The Webkinz Love Puppy is THE most popular.
Since Ganz has retired the Love Puppy and the fact that it is such a popular Webkinz, I would suggest tracking one of these plush toys still in the packaging with the access code because it has become such a huge collectors item. Alright, you might have to get 2 of them because your kids are definitely going to want to play with it. One for them, then wait for the price of the Webkinz Love Puppy to keep going up and consider selling it on ebay.
The Love Puppy has become a hot collectors item, so if you manage to find one in new condition get it right away before it's gone forever.
What amazes me most is finding on some online auctions, the Webkinz Love Puppy is getting bids of over $100. How incredible is that!
