If you want to buy a Webkinz, you've likely noticed that there's seemingly none availble in regular stores. Well, I have some great news, I found lots of Webkinz for sale here.
Webkinz plush toys are more than just cute and cuddly animals for your kids, there is an online component to these adorable toys.
You begin by buying a Webkinz, and most parents first think that's it, my child has a new plush stuffed toy. There's more, every Webkinz comes with a code and now you go to www.webkinz.com and enter the secret information code that will become your child's online Webkinz.
Important note, keep the tag with the secret code because if you ever forget your password to login to Webkinz World you will need that little tag and secret code to reset your password. Ganz, the parent company of Webkinz, takes your child's privacy very seriously and there is no way to receive a forgotten password through e-mail. The only way reset your kids password if it is forgotten is with the tag.
The virtual world these toys provide might seem at first as though somebody is trying to teach your kids to start to shop online. That's exactly what I thought at first, however as I play with my daughter and observe, I notice that, yes this game teaches her online shopping but what I find really great is she has only so many Webkinz bucks. When she shops at the virtual store it drains her money and soon she has run out yet her cat needs food and must return items.
This allows me to teach her some valuable life lessons in a way that she can understand and incidentally when we are shopping and she wants something, when I say we can't afford that right now, she completely understands. Thanks mainly to her close to real life experience in Webkinz World.

Attention Parents - Are You Concerned About Letting Your Kids Play Webkinz?
I have already mentioned that I initially had some issues with allowing my daughter to play with Webkinz because on the surface it appeared as if the parent company, Ganz, was only trying to teach my daughter "how to swipe Mommy and Daddy's credit card and go buy stuff online". Yeah, I'm sure that's part of their masterplan (or at least they have thought about teaching kids online shopping for their own future sales).
However, Webkinz is not all about teaching kids to shop online.
I have used Webkinz as part of my parental teachings about having to take on responsibility and I have to tell you that Webkinz has opened the doors wide open on speaking to my six year old about money, taking care of loved ones and everything else about money.
Six Year Old Daughter No Longer Whines About Stuff!
Webkinz has provided me with an excellent forum to teach a six year old girl about money and she no longer whines, complains and snivels about wanting stuff that Daddy says "Sorry sweetie, we can't afford that"
Summary of Daddy/Daughter Webkinz Financial Education:
Now, my daughter sees that bad financial decisions cost you money and you must be wise with everything you buy.
Most importantly she understands that Mommy and Daddy have to spend money on our basic needs such as food and shelter before we can buy life's "extras".
For the Webkinz financial education to work with your kids you MUST spend time playing in Webkinz World with your kids, if you don't play Webkinz with your kids you will not be able to have the money talks with your kids. For these conversations to be effective you must stop what you are doing and play in this virtual world with your children.
Most importantly, as "life decisions" arise in Webkinz World make sure you talk to your kids about what's going on. It's a virtual world that will open the doors of communication about money with your kids and it will be in a context they understand.
